The Mission:
Insect control in your lawn and garden by a professional can help you
achieve the healthy, green lawn you've always wanted. We can provide you
with comprehensive lawn and garden care to help you obtain, maintain and
enjoy a fantastic looking lawn while accommodating your treatment
preferences. The key to quality insect control in your lawn is to inspect
the lawn regularly in order to spot unwanted insect populations early and
enlist professional care.
The Weapons:
Lawn and garden specialists use two basic types of insect control treatments to address destructive turfgrass insect populations in your landscape- preventative and curative. Your lawn care specialist may recommend a program that integrates both types in order to maintain maximum insect control in your lawn.
The Culprits:
White grubs and chinch bugs create the most problems for your turfgrass. In
the northeastern United States, white grubs are the most widespread and
destructive pests and often require insect control services. They damage
turf by chewing off its roots close to the soil surface. The hairy chinch
bug is also prevalent in the northeast. Chinch bugs use piercing mouth parts
to suck sap and inject toxins into the crowns and stems of grass plants.
They attack a variety of grasses including Kentucky bluegrass, fine fescues,
perennial ryegrass, bentgrass, and zoysia.
